The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, set to take place in Australia and New Zealand, is already proving to be a success with six months to go until the tournament begins. Over 500,000 tickets have been sold, making it the most sought-after match of the tournament.
The final match at Stadium Australia on August 20th is particularly popular. Additionally, the tournament’s opening match between Australia and Ireland will be moved to Accor Stadium, allowing for nearly 40,000 more people to attend. This edition of the tournament will also see the debut of five new teams, including Morocco, Zambia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and the Republic of Ireland.
With ticket sales on track to surpass the 1.1 million attendance record set in France in 2019 and fans from over 120 countries purchasing tickets, this tournament is expected to be a huge success.
This year’s competition will also feature a new format, with the first FIFA Women’s World Cup Playoff Tournament being held in February and featuring 10 countries competing for three spots.
